日本語で INTRODUCTION

The BRGA Online Course is divided into 6 levels, focusing on 9 different general subjects per level. There is also an additional level review at the beginning, and a level test at the end of each level. It is highly recommended that you jump to each of the 9 different subjects as you progress through each tier ie Rhythm 1-1, Groove 1-1, Chords 1-1, Scales 1-1, Aural 1-1, Theory 1-1, Utility 1-1, Other 1-1, Songs 1-1, then move on to Rhythm 1-2, Groove 1-2, Chords 1-2, so on and so forth.
DO NOT progress on to the next level until you are able perform and can understand the material from the current level's curriculum. Musical understanding is very progressive, without a solid foundation, higher levels are harder to grasp. Slow, methodical, contemplative and thorough is the name of the game. Good luck! Below you will find a general outline quickly describing the different categories of study for each level.

REVIEW
At the beginning of each level (except for level 1) you will find a level review encapsulating what was covered in the previous level. This was designed as a test to ensure that the student isn't about to get themselves in over their head. If you're unable to breeze through the level review, it is recommended that you remain on the previous level's curriculum until you are confidently understanding the material.

RHYTHM
Arguably the most important element of all music is rhythm. Rhythm - in tandem with harmony and melody - make up the three elements of what western music is constructed from. It is typically studied in it's simplest form by itself along with the aid of a metronome.

GROOVE
"Don't think, feeeeel" -- Bruce Lee. Groove is basically a more complex form of rhythm and is best "learned" through doing. I have designed a very organic way of internalizing rhythm by way of using the body, no counting here.

CHORDS
Another important element of western music is harmony (aka chords). Harmony by definition is the sound of multiple pitches ringing out simultaneously, which is exactly what happens when you strike a chord! In many ways, harmony is kind of like the environmental setting in which music is rendered in. In addition to playing around with musical soundscapes, chords are a great way to develop finger synchronization and strength.

SCALES
Completing the trio of important elements of western music is melody. Melody is basically rendered by way of understanding scale patterns on the guitar. In addition to learning these scale templates on guitar, scales function as a great way to develop nimble finger dexterity.

AURAL
Sometimes referred to as ear training, aural skills include the ability to identify and label what it is that the musician is hearing. Just like a skiled chef can taste and identify certain flavor in a dish and then use that in their on recipes, the skilled musician can hear and identify certain relations in sound and use that in their own playing.

THEORY
"Come on guys, it's not music theory" -- Rocket Scientist. Music theory is basically the term used in regards to the study of rationalizing what it is that we're hearing. Like many forms of art, music is totally abstract and fabricated, so therefore nothing is right or wrong and so there are no music laws like actual physical sciences have. That is why it's called music theory, not music science (but you can think of music theory as being the physics of music if you'd like).

UTILITY
Things pertaining to some of the physical elements of the instrument go here. Note memorization, how to tune, etc.

OTHER
Miscellaneous concepts and things go here. That's all.

SONGS
What fun is the guitar if you can't play any songs? As we go along, there will be certain low-hanging songs that we can study while also learning the basics.

TEST
At the end of each level there will be a test. Do you have what it takes to level up!?
